Healthy Ageing Across the Life Course

Healthy Ageing Across the Life Course

We are pioneering a cutting edge multi disciplinary approach for the identification of  health determinants, their validation, and the validation of risk factors for disease and disability. This is designed to elucidate the interaction between an individual’s genetics, epigenetics, behavioural, socioeconomic, occupational, nutritional and other modifiable lifestyle factors throughout the life course and to evaluate their contribution to different ageing trajectories. These investigations will enable integration and validation of data derived from a range of different relevant disciplines (including molecular pathways, biophysical parameters of ageing, lifestyle, socioeconomics, psychology and epidemiology, exposure sciences, genetics, epigenetics, nutrition, public and population health and disease).  Our research is designed to determine how these contribute to good health, disease development and how to prolonged active independence and a productive working life, all of which are key factors in the context of the ageing of the global population.
